Today I read this article and had me unwinding this ever tangled web that is quickly reaching everyone everywhere...so it seems:
EU to recognize East Jerusalem as capital of Palestinian state
European Union foreign ministers are expected to officially call next week for the division of Jerusalem, to serve as the capitals of both Israel and Palestine. A draft document authored by the current holder of the rotating EU presidency, Sweden, and implying that the EU would recognize a unilateral Palestinian declaration of statehood, has been obtained by Haaretz.
Jerusalem is waging a diplomatic campaign to keep the EU from issuing such an endorsement, but diplomats close to the EU deliberations believe it is virtually inevitable.
EU foreign ministers are scheduled to meet on December 7 for a two-day meeting in Brussels on the peace process, after which a statement outlining the body's Mideast policy is expected.
The Swedish draft represents the first official EU articulation of a solution for one of the core issues of the final-status arrangement between Israel and the Palestinians.
On the issue of borders, the document states that the EU will not accept any changes made by Israel to the 1967 borders unless they have PA approval. The EU, it says, welcomes PA Prime Minister Salam Fayyad's proposal of a unilateral declaration of statehood and would "be able, at the appropriate time, to recognize a Palestinian state."
Then lifted I up mine eyes, and saw, and behold four horns. And I said unto the angel that talked with me, What be these? And he answered me, These are the horns which have scattered Judah, Israel, and Jerusalem. And the LORD showed me four carpenters. Then said I, What come these to do? And he spake, saying, These are the horns which have scattered Judah, so that no man did lift up his head: but these are come to fray them, to cast out the horns of the Gentiles, which lifted up their horn over the land of Judah to scatter it. Zechariah 1:18-21
As many of us already know, Solano has retired from his position. However while reading the Geneva Accord, I came across this portion concerning the Temple Mount and the election of a Special Representative:
The Multinational Presence
in Al-Haram al-Sharif /
Temple Mount Compound
1. Establishment and Composition:
i. An Implementation and Verification Group (IVG) shall hereby be established
to facilitate, assist in, guarantee, monitor, and resolve disputes relating to
the implementation of this Agreement.
ii. The IVG shall include the US, the Russian Federation, the EU, the UN, and
other parties, both regional and international, to be agreed on by the Parties.
i. A senior political-level contact group (Contact Group), composed of all the IVG
members, shall be the highest authority in the IVG.
ii. The Contact Group shall appoint, in consultation with the Parties, a Special
Representative who will be the principal executive of the IVG on the ground.
The Special Representative shall manage the work of the IVG and maintain
constant contact with the Parties, the Palestinian-Israeli High Steering
Committee, and the Contact Group.
The term for the Special Representative is 4 years (48 months). Read about the Temple Mount section. You will understand what Daniel was talking about the abomination of desolation. Indeed, Israel will be helpless in his hands for 42 months.
Could it be possible that Solana will fill those all so important shoes?
After all, when he was asked Solana did reply:
Javier Solana: One thing is that the EU has opened a new page and different stories what individuals do. I am a European and I have been working for the EU … before I was born. But I think I've been working in the position for 15 years and the position had to be changed and people have to be moved and that is healthy for any organization. That is healthy for the countries that we represent. That does not mean that I am going to sleep – I will be working for the same ideals from a different position.
I am keeping watch.
