Pope Francis Says Atheists Who Do Good Are Redeemed, Not Just Catholics

Pope Francis rocked some religious and atheist minds today when he declared that everyone was redeemed through Jesus, including atheists.
During his homily at Wednesday Mass in Rome, Francis emphasized the importance of "doing good" as a principle that unites all humanity, and a "culture of encounter" to support peace.
Using scripture from the Gospel of Mark, Francis explained how upset Jesus' disciples were that someone outside their group was doing good, according to a report from Vatican Radio.
“They complain,” the Pope said in his homily, because they say, “If he is not one of us, he cannot do good. If he is not of our party, he cannot do good.” And Jesus corrects them: “Do not hinder him, he says, let him do good.” The disciples, Pope Francis explains, “were a little intolerant,” closed off by the idea of possessing the truth, convinced that “those who do not have the truth, cannot do good.” “This was wrong . . . Jesus broadens the horizon.” Pope Francis said, “The root of this possibility of doing good – that we all have – is in creation”
Pope Francis went further in his sermon to say:
"The Lord created us in His image and likeness, and we are the image of the Lord, and He does good and all of us have this commandment at heart: do good and do not do evil. All of us. ‘But, Father, this is not Catholic! He cannot do good.’ Yes, he can... "The Lord has redeemed all of us, all of us, with the Blood of Christ: all of us, not just Catholics. Everyone! ‘Father, the atheists?’ Even the atheists. Everyone!".. We must meet one another doing good. ‘But I don’t believe, Father, I am an atheist!’ But do good: we will meet one another there.”
Responding to the leader of the Roman Catholic church's homily, Father James Martin, S.J. wrote in an email to The Huffington Post:
"Pope Francis is saying, more clearly than ever before, that Christ offered himself as a sacrifice for everyone. That's always been a Christian belief. You can find St. Paul saying in the First Letter to Timothy that Jesus gave himself as a "ransom for all." But rarely do you hear it said by Catholics so forcefully, and with such evident joy. And in this era of religious controversies, it's a timely reminder that God cannot be confined to our narrow categories."
Of course, not all Christians believe that those who don't believe will be redeemed, and the Pope's words may spark memories of the deep divisions from the Protestant reformation over the belief in redemption through grace versus redemption through works.
The pope's comment has also struck a chord on Reddit, where it is the second most-shared piece.
More from Reuters:
Atheists should be seen as good people if they do good, Pope Francis said on Wednesday in his latest urging that people of all religions - or no religion - work together.

The leader of the world's 1.2 billion Roman Catholics made his comments in the homily of his morning Mass in his residence, a daily event where he speaks without prepared comments.

He told the story of a Catholic who asked a priest if even atheists had been redeemed by Jesus.

"Even them, everyone," the pope answered, according to Vatican Radio. "We all have the duty to do good," he said.

"Just do good and we'll find a meeting point," the pope said in a hypothetical conversation in which someone told a priest: "But I don't believe. I'm an atheist."

Francis's reaching out to atheists and people who belong to no religion is a marked contrast to the attitude of former Pope Benedict, who sometimes left non-Catholics feeling that he saw them as second-class believers.

Well this is a very dangerous sermon to be sure and I would ask the Pope for clarification. It is only by the blood of Jesus that we are saved, but one must profess their belief in Him as God...not just do good and you are saved under the blood of Jesus.

Matthew 7:21-23
21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Coverage..and a look back at Joplin's first hand experience

My husband and I were plastered to the web, watching streaming video.  We remembered all too well when such a tornado hit Joplin, Mo.  my husband's hometown.  He flew back to help out with relief efforts.

Here is what is what like in Joplin...I still get chills!
The First Person video from the gas station I used to fill my tank after leaving work, at the hospital that the tornado hit!

Dedicated to the children and parents of Moore, Ok

Goodnight, sweet child
Go to sleep
Hand mama your dreams to keep

We blow upon the wings of butterflies
Fly high

Nevermind these tears that flow
Go and play
Sadness, you will never again know

My heart still beats with flutterings
You're inside...deep inside

If mama cries and no one sees
Never you fear
It is only because I am watching your dreams

Butterflies are temporary
Angels forever have wings...

So fly high

The little boy going through a sex change

The little boy who started a sex change aged eight because he (and his lesbian parents) knew he always wanted to be a girl

The lesbian parents of an 11-year-old boy who is undergoing the process of becoming a girl last night defended the decision, claiming it was better for a child to have a sex change when young.
Thomas Lobel, who now calls himself Tammy, is undergoing controversial hormone blocking treatment in Berkeley, California to stop him going through puberty as a boy.
But Pauline Moreno and Debra Lobel warn that children with gender identity disorder forced to postpone transitioning could face a higher risk of suicide.

The mothers say that one of the first things Thomas told them when he learned sign language aged three - because of a speech impediment - was, 'I am a girl'.
At age seven, after threatening genital mutilation on himself, psychiatrists diagnosed Thomas with gender identity disorder. By the age of eight, he began transitioning.
This summer, he started taking hormone-blocking drugs, which will stop him from experiencing puberty.

This is sad..It's one thing to undergo such treatment as an adult...but for a  kid that is still learning the basics in life?

Marine vet plans peaceful July 4 armed march into D.C

Libertarian anti-war activist Adam Kokesh seeks 10,000 supporters for "civil disobedience." Police issue warning.

Marine Corps veteran who became a vocal anti-war activist is rounding up armed followers to march peacefully into the nation's capital on Independence Day as "an act of civil disobedience."

Washington police and the U.S. Park Police say they will confront the "open carry" marchers if they step across the border dividing Virginia from the District of Columbia. Washington residents can have registered firearms only on their own property, not in public.
The march is being organized by Adam Kokesh, a former Internet talk radio host who in 2008 disrupted Sen. John McCain's presidential nomination acceptance at the GOP convention because of the nominee's support for the Iraq War.
The avowed libertarian wants to "muster" supporters outside Arlington National Cemetery on July 4 and cross the Potomac River on the Memorial Bridge and then march around the U.S. Capitol, the Supreme Court and the White House "with rifles loaded & slung across our backs."
Kokesh, 31, is seeking a "critical mass" of 10,000 marchers by June 1. As of Tuesday, about 3,000 people had signed up.

I am shocked, but not really.  After watching Olympus Has Fallen...I made a mental note that the invasion started on July 5th.

This cannot possibly go down peacefully, and I would say that something major will be the result of the march.

IRS apologizes for targeting Tea Party, 'patriot' groups

The Internal Revenue Service inappropriately flagged conservative political groups for additional reviews during the 2012 election to see if they were violating their tax-exempt status, a top IRS official said Friday. Organizations were singled out because they included the words "tea party" or "patriot" in their applications for tax-exempt status, said Lois Lerner, who heads the IRS division that oversees tax-exempt groups. In some cases, groups were asked for their list of donors, which violates IRS policy in most cases, she said. "That was wrong. That was absolutely incorrect, it was insensitive and it was inappropriate. That's not how we go about selecting cases for further review," Lerner said at a conference sponsored by the American Bar Association. "The IRS would like to apologize for that," she added. Lerner said the practice was initiated by low-level workers in Cincinnati and was not motivated by political bias. After her talk, she told The AP that no high level IRS officials knew about the practice. She did not say when they found out. Many conservative groups complained during the election that they were being harassed by the IRS. They accused the agency of frustrating their attempts to become tax exempt by sending them lengthy, intrusive questionnaires. Read more:

The Military allowed a Muslim cleric to curse fallen soliders during funeral

Here is the prayer that was prayed during the funeral of our fallen soldiers Aug 2011

“Amen I shelter in Allah from the devil who has been cast with stones. In the name of Allah the merciful giver. The companions of the fire are not equal with the companions of heaven. The companions of heaven are the winners. Had we sent this Koran to a mountain, you would have seen the mountain prostrated in fear of Allah. Such examples are what we present to the people; to the people, so that they would think. Blessings are to your God, the God of glory of what they describe. And peace be upon the messengers and thanks be to Allah the lord of both universes.”

Security concerns after 500 pounds of still-missing explosives stolen from federal bunker

Around the same time the nation was transfixed on the hunt for the Boston Marathon bombers last month, thieves on the other side of the country pulled off a little-noticed heist -- swiping 559 pounds of explosives from a federal storage facility in Montana.
As of Friday, not one ounce of it has been found.
The incident, federal officials believe, was not terrorism-related. But it's the latest to raise security concerns in an age when authorities are warning about the desire of violence-bent terrorists to inflict mass casualties with bombs.
Rep. Steve Daines, Montana's only congressman, told he's "deeply concerned" about the theft in his state and will be "closely monitoring" the investigation.
The explosives were stolen from a locked U.S. Forest Service bunker near Billings. Thieves took off with various emulsion-type explosives, cast boosters and detonating cord.

Amanda Bynes...victim of the butterfly

I have been watching the news, my heart grieving over another stars slipping out of control.

I am not a fan of Amanda Bynes, I really haven't watched anything with her in, but by her actions I am reminded of Britney Spears, and Lindsay Lohan.

Erratic behavior, shaving of the head and sexually deviant behavior...all key signs she's becoming undone.

Her vacant eyes are revealing though...child star, turn sex kitten programming.  I wouldn't be surprised if she doesn't go into "rehab" soon for reprogramming.

The last video reminds me Anna Nicole when she had her breakdown. Her husband taped the whole thing, something handlers do quite often...because they are proud of their work.

All digital communications are stored

A former FBI counterterrorism agent claims on CNN that this is the case
The real capabilities and behavior of the US surveillance state are almost entirely unknown to the American public because, like most things of significance done by the US government, it operates behind an impenetrable wall of secrecy. But a seemingly spontaneous admission this week by a former FBI counterterrorism agent provides a rather startling acknowledgment of just how vast and invasive these surveillance activities are.Over the past couple days, cable news tabloid shows such as CNN’s Out Front with Erin Burnett have been excitingly focused on the possible involvement in the Boston Marathon attack of Katherine Russell, the 24-year-old American widow of the deceased suspect, Tamerlan Tsarnaev. As part of their relentless stream of leaks uncritically disseminated by our Adversarial Press Corps, anonymous government officials are claiming that they are now focused on telephone calls between Russell and Tsarnaev that took place both before and after the attack to determine if she had prior knowledge of the plot or participated in any way.
On Wednesday night, Burnett interviewed Tim Clemente, a former FBI counterterrorism agent, about whether the FBI would be able to discover the contents of past telephone conversations between the two. He quite clearly insisted that they could:
BURNETT: Tim, is there any way, obviously, there is a voice mail they can try to get the phone companies to give that up at this point. It’s not a voice mail. It’s just a conversation. There’s no way they actually can find out what happened, right, unless she tells them?
CLEMENTE: “No, there is a way. We certainly have ways in national security investigations to find out exactly what was said in that conversation. It’s not necessarily something that the FBI is going to want to present in court, but it may help lead the investigation and/or lead to questioning of her. We certainly can find that out.
BURNETT: “So they can actually get that? People are saying, look, that is incredible.
CLEMENTE: “No, welcome to America. All of that stuff is being captured as we speak whether we know it or like it or not.”
“All of that stuff” – meaning every telephone conversation Americans have with one another on US soil, with or without a search warrant – “is being captured as we speak”.
On Thursday night, Clemente again appeared on CNN, this time with host Carol Costello, and she asked him about those remarks. He reiterated what he said the night before but added expressly that “all digital communications in the past” are recorded and stored:

I remember when these three went missing

As police and the FBI try to piece together how the three women and a 6-year-old girl, who police believe is the daughter of one of the women, remained captive in a house for more than a decade in a densely populated section of Cleveland, the women were released Tuesday from a local hospital and returned to their families.
"The real hero here is Amanda [Berry]," Cleveland's assistant police chief Ed Tomba said at a press conference.
The women were identified as Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight. The three were treated in the MetroHealth Emergency Department Monday night and released on Tuesday morning. Authorities would not comment further on their conditions, saying only that they looked to be healthy and in need of a good meal. The women all lived within two miles of the suspect's home.
On Monday evening, neighbor Charles Ramsey told Fox 8 he heard screaming and found Berry at the door of the suspect's house and helped her call police.
Ramsey said the door would open only enough to fit a hand through. He said she was trying desperately to get outside and pleaded for help to reach police.
"I heard screaming," he said. "I'm eating my McDonald's. I come outside. I see this girl going nuts trying to get out of a house."
Neighbor Anna Tejeda was sitting on her porch with friends when they heard someone across the street kicking a door and yelling.
Tejeda, 50, said one of her friends went over and told Berry how to kick the screen out of the bottom of the door, which allowed her to get out.
Speaking Spanish, which was translated by one of her friends, Tejeda said Berry was nervous and crying. She was dressed in pajamas and old sandals.
At first Tejeda said she didn't want to believe who the young woman was. "You're not Amanda Berry," she insisted. "Amanda Berry is dead."
But when Berry told her she'd been kidnapped and held captive, Tejeda said she gave her the telephone to call police, who arrived within minutes and then took the other women from the house.

I haven't read good news ina long time.  My heart grieves for the women and their upcoming glad that they are finally free

American man is sentenced to 15 years of labor

An American detained for nearly six months in North Korea has been sentenced to 15 years of labor for crimes against the state, the North's state media said Thursday, a development that further complicates already strained ties between Pyongyang and Washington.
The sentencing of Kenneth Bae, described by friends as a devout Christian and a tour operator, comes amid signs of tentative diplomacy following weeks of rising tensions in the region. North Korea had been warning of nuclear war and missile strikes, an angry response to U.N. sanctions for conducting a long-range rocket launch in December and a nuclear test in February, as well as U.S.-South Korean military drills in South Korea.
Analysts say Pyongyang could use Bae as a bargaining chip as it seeks dialogue with Washington.

If only we were a Christian Nation!

Plane Crash in Bagram Air Field in Afghanistan

I haven't written about it because I've been watching the video of it several times.
While I don't doubt that there was a crash, this video looks fake. Remember when I posted the video of the Waco fertilizer explosion?  It rocked the cameras and the people screamed.  You wouldn't been able to help it.

In this video you barely hear the explosion as the plane makes impact to the ground.  You can hear the man swear as he tried to turn around...and then you even hear his dog start whining later.

The dog didn't whine during the explosion?

Something very strange about this.  The plane is flying in slow motion...the angles are wrong.  It looks like a computer generated movie.  Question is WHY?

Born out of Rebellion

don't tread on me

I never had taken a really good look at this flag's motto before.  Mainly, I didn't know what I do now.  Tonight I stepped back and took a second look at the serpent and how we are not supposed to "tread" on it.

Genesis 3:15

15 And I will put enmity
Between you and the woman,
And between oyour seed and pher Seed;
qHe shall bruise your head,
And you shall bruise His heel.”

In the of 2013, in the year of the snake we see a "new rebellion" emerging.  An uprising...which I had expected when we started seeing who quickly the masses gathered to protest in things that made no sense at all, in 2012.

Occupy Wall St.
Kony 2012 are just a couple of examples.

As I scour the net, and keep eyes and ears open, I hear what is the up-coming common theme.

(you may remember my previously mentioning that the author of series The Hunger Games is from Newton, CT (sandhook connection)  Also look at the poster, the orginal was of the bird looking down

However once more we see the bird, looking almost phoenix like "catching fire"  The catch phrase for the movie is

"Every revolution begins with a spark"

A country born out of rebellion returning to it's roots...I will ask this. To kick off this rebellion will you have to take away the world's beacon of hope?
I haven't got to see Olympus Has Fallen, but I am very anxious to do so.
