The name Phillip

The Wall Street Journal has posted:
Award-winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman was found dead Sunday afternoon in his New York City apartment, a law-enforcement official said.

The New York Police Department is investigating, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine exact cause of death. The official said Mr. Hoffman, 46 years old, was found dead at his apartment at 35 Bethune St. in the West Village neighborhood of Manhattan.

Mr. Hoffman won the Academy Award for Best Actor for the 2005 film, "Capote."

Hoffman joined "The Hunger Games" series last year to play head gamemaker Plutarch Heavensbee in "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire." He was expected to continue his role in the final two installments.

Hunger Games was written by Suzanne Collins: Collins resides in Sandy Hook, Connecticut, within Newtown, Connecticut with her husband and their two children

They are saying that he died of a drug overdose.
A needle was in the actor's left arm, and eight empty glassine-type bags that usually contain heroin were found in the apartment, law enforcement sources told CNN.
The bags were stamped with "Ace of Hearts" and "Ace of Spades" -- street names for the heroin, the sources said.

Interestingly enough, I went over to Wikipedia to see what exactly the Ace of Spades represented:
At least in English-speaking countries, the ace of spades (also known as the spadille[1]) is traditionally seen as the highest card in the deck of playing cards, although the actual value of the card varies from game to game. In popular myth and folklore, it is also known as the "death card."

Sadly his death comes after an internet hoax proclaimed him to be dead just 24 hours before his actual death...just like Paul Walker's.

Hoffman is the third celebrity named Phillip to have died this year

On New Year's Eve James Avery better known as "Uncle Phil" from the t.v. sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel Air passed away after complications during a heart surgery.
Fresh Prince of Bel-Air (Philip Banks)

Phil Everly from the Everly brothers  died a few days later.

On an interesting side note: The name Philip is a Greek baby name. In Greek the meaning of the name Philip is: Lover of horses.
